P7's visit City Chambers

P7's visit City Chambers

On Thursday 10th October Shawlands Primary's P7s went to the city chambers for the Queen’s Baton Ceremony to hold the flags of the 70 common wealth countries. When we arrived, we got the flags and learned the names of them. I carried the flag of Namibia.

After that we stood outside on the red carpet and waited for the baton to arrive, then we did the same thing inside the building in the main hall. Then we sat down to hear different people speak. Then we stood up and had the opportunity to touch the baton but we didn’t get to touch it properly because the woman who was holding it was walking fast! Then that was the end of the ceremony so we all went in to a room to have a snack and drink and hopped back onto the bus.
