Shawlands Playzone
Our new Playzone opened officially on Wednesday 11th September. Lots of people came to the opening, including Jen Ng the parent who designed it, David Meikle and Norman Mcleod our local councillors, Trish Leason from Education and some of our Parent Council. Primary three children, including us, spoke to everyone about the areas in the new Playzone and how it helps us learn.
We needed a new Playzone where all the areas were good fun for all ages from p1 to p3. So the Parent Council helped get money from the Polloksheilds Area Community Fund and some parents worked hard over the summer holidays getting it ready. Our new Playzone has a painting area, a building site where we can design and build things, a craft table, graffiti chalk board, Prince Charming’s Castle with a friendly dragon who we can write letters to, a relaxing reading area and a water or sand area.
The new Playzone is amazing! It helps us learn together in groups. We have responsibility for tidying up and keeping it nice. We feel like real life scientists doing experiments and real life artisits because of the easels in the paint area. We think our teachers love it too!
