Queen's Baton Trip

Queen's Baton Trip

On Thursday 10 October Shawlands P7 went to the city chambers for the queen’s baton ceremony. We went into a large room with all the 70 flags which had numbers on them. Next my friend grace had the flag and I shared it with her.

She got our flag to go down the grand stair case that was made from Italian marble. It was amazing to see how much marble there was, after that we went outside. A lady called Louise Martin that carried the baton into the city chambers and there were a lot more important people there too. We went back inside and we went back to the stair case to go to a huge room.

Then I got to hold the flag that I loved to hold for the Queen’s Baton ceremony. We sat down and watched the ceremony. Very important people talked about the baton that is going to get sent through all the different countries of the commonwealth.
