Sports Conference
In April hundreds of young people and teachers from around the city descended on the Emirates Arena for the annual physical education, physical activity and school sport (PEPASS) conference.
The conference, organised by the PEPASS promoters, pupils from Glasgow secondary schools with a helping hand from active school coordinators and featured different workshops planned throughout the day.
The children and young people attending were able to question a panel of distinguished and inspirational people involved in sports. The PEPASS team worked hard to ensure that the conference was accessible to all schools including nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools and ASL schools.
Everyone at the PEPASS team believe this ensured the conference was truly unique and this created a special atmosphere. In addition, for those unable to attend the conference , for the first time, the PEPASS promoters media team updating the PEPASS twitter feed @PEPASSGlasgow throughout the day with quotes from staff, pupils and distinguished guests as well as constant updates on what’s going on around the market of workshops.
Anyone who attended the conference left with a better understanding of different types of physical activity and how to teach each activity successfully. The conference was also be a fantastic opportunity to meet new friends, pick up new skills and learn new ways of keeping fit.
As Alexander Geddes, St Andrew's Secondary pupil and one of the PEPASS promoters said, ahead of the conference: "Of course everyone who has been involved in the planning of the event is really looking forward to it and the excitement has undoubtedly rubbed off on the children and staff involved.
"But for those unable to attend the conference, and want to put some questions to the panel, please feel free to tweet any questions to the PEPASS twitter address and we will put them to the panel on your behalf.
"It’s going to be a fabulous day of learning, networking and enjoyment and it shall improve a system of physical education in our city that is already exemplary."
